Weather Warnings and Manure Briquettes

I'm on a roll now. So since Christmas - wow was that only a fortnight ago?! - we've had a week of weather warnings, snow and ice. Less ice than last year thankfully. It's been rather nice as the wood burner has been used a fair bit. It isn't really needed to heat the house, we're very lucky, but it does make things nice and cosy indoors when it's cold outside. And the dogs adore it, needless to say.

The log pile we built up and dried over spring and summer is diminishing so this is the next thing to be addressed. I do have a briquette mould on order - the plan is to experiment with horse manure and see if we can make a supply of horse-poop briquettes. It would certainly solve the issue of reducing the muck heap, particularly as the horses are bedded down on this amazing stuff Super Absorbent Wood Pellet Based Horse Bedding | Sorbeo which is great but sadly doesn't compost very quickly.
The mould arrives at the weekend so, assuming all goes well with the experimentation, we might have some horse manure briquettes drying out and ready for use next winter.
